Beautifully providing potable water during annual hurricanes
CLASS PROJECT
Overview
Nestl is a ceramic filtration system to be kept in the kitchen when water supply is contaminated during a hurricane. Ceramic filtering was chosen for the particular reason that it has the ability to filter out most microbes and contamination that a charcoal filter cannot.
Since hurricanes are seasonal, Nestl (and Nestl+), in terms of form factor and aesthetics, doesn't have to be stored away whenever there isn't a hurricane going on and can also be used year-round as a regular filter for tap water.
The brand Bodum was chosen for this project because of its simultaneous adherence to functionality and beauty.

After exploration of different water pumps and filtration systems, a screwing mechanism was implemented to provide perceivable interaction to the user filtering the water, as well as a more productive extraction of water units per force.

A pitcher-like version, named Nestl+ was also designed in tandem to provide for a family needing clean drinking water.
